To protect the company's research and development outcomes and enhance corporate competitiveness, management objectives are achieved through the Intellectual Property Rights Management Policy by acquiring, protecting, maintaining, and utilizing intellectual property, and by implementing measures to prevent infringement and safeguard rights throughout corporate operations. To continuously enhance the awareness and capabilities of ntellectual property rights management, MERRY obtained the Taiwan Intellectual Property Management System (TIPS) Class A 2016 version certification in 2019 and successfully passed the re-assessment in 2024, thereby maintaining continuous certification. MECL obtained certification for the GB/T 29490(2013 version) Enterprise Intellectual Property Management Standard in 2018 and has successfully passed annual audits since then to maintain the validity of the certificate; furthermore, it passed the GB/T 29490 (2023 version) certification again in January 2025, thereby continuing to uphold certificate validity.
To implement corporate sustainability and risk management, the Legal and Patent Department of MERRY regularly assesses the need to adjust management processes in response to changes in internal and external issues. Patent maps are periodically compiled for reference by various R&D units, focusing on new products and emerging technological trends. Furthermore, the Legal and Patent Department, in collaboration with relevant units of subsidiaries, collects regulatory and industry information quarterly and disseminates it to R&D supervisors and business unit managers. During product development, patent risks are identified, and for cases involving legal risks, risk response strategies and avoidance plans are developed and implemented. Additionally, the intellectual property rights management plan and its implementation results are reported annually (most recently on 2024/12/26) to the Board of Directors, detailing the annual execution status and the proposed plan for the subsequent year, and are disclosed on the company website. Finally, regarding patent acquisition results, as shown in the figure below, MERRY filed 83 patent applications in 2024, with 59 approvals, and currently holds 515 active patents; Furthermore, with respect to trademark acquisition results, calculated on a consolidated group basis, there are currently 205 registered trademarks and 10 pending applications.
